Ukraine and EU sign Association Agreements on full scale

Ukraine and the European Union finished signing of the Association Agreement on a full scale. On the 27th of June the Agreement was signed in Brussels within a framework of the EU Summit by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, President of the Council of the EU Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, heads of the states and governments of all 27 EU member states. Georgia and Moldova also signed Association Agreements with the EU. 

“I believe that it is one of the historical days after independence. I believe that we should use this opportunity to modernize the country. We need a peace and security for that. We also expect that today the EU will demonstrate the same solidarity as before”, - said the President of Ukraine.

"When Ukraine is ready, it will join the EU" - said Poroshenko and stated that it means a lot for the country, because already today he would like to stress that Ukraine will seek full membership in the EU. "Ukraine as a European country that has the same values, the rule of law, lays considerable emphasis on the future membership in the EU" - said Poroshenko.
Georgian President George Margvelashvili and Iurie Leancă in their speeches also stressed that their countries' main goal is the full membership in the European Union. They underlined the necessary reforms needed to achieve this goal.
On the 21th of March Ukraine and the EU signed a political part of the Association Agreement. The Agreement stipulates political association and economic integration of Ukraine with the European Union.
